Transparency Prize Awarded to Dr. Kara Tan Bhala
On November 14th in London, the Transparency Task Force (TTF) awarded Dr. Kara Tan Bhala, Founding President of Seven Pillars Institute, its Transparency Trophy. The award is given to individuals who help navigate the finance industry towards a more transparent, competitive and enlightened state.
Seven Pillars Institute is pleased to collaborate with TTF to achieve its mission of increasing transparency in financial services. TTF has been campaigning actively in the U.K. and across the world to have a very bright light shone on the issue of costs in pensions and investments. It works with a large number of like minded individuals and organizations to pursue this goal and has achieved impressive results.
The organization now has a highly effective program of activity designed to drive up levels of transparency in financial services. In particular, TTF produces White Papers such as one on hidden costs and charges that impact investors and pension savers and another entitled, “Ideas to Help Reduce the Chance of Another Global Financial Crisis” presented at the House of Commons in February of this year. Second, TTF representatives meet with regulators such as the Financial Conduct Authority, and government officials to articulate the organization’s view on the need for greater transparency in the finance sector. Third, TTF responds to formal Consultations such as the Financial Conduct Authority’s Consultation Paper on Transaction Costs in Workplace Pensions and The Investment Association’s Costs Disclosure Code.
It was at the latest TTF Symposium on “The FCA’s Duty of Care Discussion Paper” where Andy Agathangelou presented Dr. Tan Bhala with the Transparency Trophy. The TTF has written a formal response to the FCA’s discussion paper. Stay tuned. In the meantime, thanks to Andy and the TTF team for their recognition and support.
